Namibia Safaris

The red dunes of Sossusvlei, the waterholes of Etosha, the wild Skeleton Coast, Fish River Canyon and the Himba people of the north.

Namibia is a land of huge open spaces, clear skies and few people. In the Namib Desert, the dunes of Sossusvlei are among the highest in the world, and in Deadvlei the dead camel thorn trees stand on a white clay pan below them.

In the north, Etosha National Park is one of Africa's best places to watch animals at waterholes, from elephants and lions to black rhinos. On the coast, Swakopmund offers adventure and German colonial charm, the Skeleton Coast is lined with shipwrecks and seal colonies, and in Kaokoland the Himba people keep their traditional way of life. Roads are good, and many trips can be guided or self-drive.

Best time to go

May to October is dry and cool, and animals gather at the waterholes of Etosha. November to April is warmer with short afternoon rains, green landscapes and many birds.
