Uganda Safaris

Mountain gorillas in Bwindi, chimpanzees in Kibale, tree-climbing lions in Queen Elizabeth and the thundering Murchison Falls on the Nile.

Winston Churchill called Uganda the Pearl of Africa. About half of the world's mountain gorillas live in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, and Kibale Forest has one of the highest numbers of primates in Africa, including habituated chimpanzees you can follow on foot.

Uganda is also a savannah country. Queen Elizabeth National Park is known for its tree-climbing lions and boat trips on the Kazinga Channel, Murchison Falls is where the Nile forces its way through a narrow gorge, and remote Kidepo Valley feels like the Africa of old.

Best time to go

Uganda can be visited all year. The driest months, June to September and December to February, make the forest trails easier. Gorilla permits are limited, so book them early.
