Overview
The Machame route approaches from the south and crosses the Shira Plateau and the Barranco Wall before the final climb from Barafu Camp. It is the second most popular route, and the extra acclimatisation day on our seven-day version is deliberate.
It needs no special equipment or climbing skills.
