Burundi Tours
Beaches on Lake Tanganyika, hippos in the Rusizi delta, chimpanzees in Kibira, the royal drummers of Gishora and the southernmost source of the Nile.
Burundi is one of Africa's least visited countries, and that is part of its charm. Its capital, Bujumbura, lies on the shore of Lake Tanganyika, the second deepest lake in the world, with sandy beaches and mountains rising behind the city.
Inland, the country is a patchwork of green hills, tea estates and rainforest. You can watch the famous royal drummers at Gishora, stand at the southernmost source of the Nile and swim below the waterfalls of Karera. Travel here is simple and personal, and we plan every trip around current travel advice.
Best time to go
The dry seasons, June to September and December to January, are best for travel and forest walks. The lake is pleasant for swimming all year.
Before every Burundi trip we check the latest travel advice with you and confirm that each region on the route is open to visitors.
