Combining a safari with a Zanzibar beach holiday is one of the most popular ways to see Tanzania. It gives you wildlife first and relaxation afterwards, all on one trip.
A sample route
A typical ten-day trip goes from Arusha to Tarangire, the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, then flies to Zanzibar for three or four nights. We adjust the days to your wishes.
When to go
June to October is dry on the safari and on the coast. January and February are also good for the beach and for the calving season. The heavy rains from March to May are best avoided on the coast.
Getting from the safari to Zanzibar
A short domestic flight connects Arusha and Kilimanjaro with Zanzibar. We book the flights and the transfers for you.
Where to stay on Zanzibar
- North (Nungwi, Kendwa): swimmable at all tides, lively, with sunset views
- East (Paje, Jambiani): wide beaches and kitesurfing, with the tide going far out
- South (Kizimkazi): quieter, with dolphin tours
- Stone Town: history, markets and food, good for one or two nights
What to do
Visit Stone Town, a spice farm and Prison Island, take a dhow cruise at sunset, or spend a day on Safari Blue.
